Philadelphia Magic Gardens

Have you ever heard of other Philly Magic Gardens? Designed by Isaiah Zagar out of recycled and re-purposed materials, they seems light wonderful havens of imagination in an urban environment. Next time I'm up north, I'm really going to try to check them out!

Public Art: A City Planning Comedy

The blog Incidental Comics was recently featured on Blogger's Blogs of Note and I thought that this comic would be funny to any urban-dweller. For my fellow University residents, here is another comic stylized as a 3-D Map.

What are you guys looking forward to this week?

House-Shaped Post-its

Cute, right? They're recycled post-it notes designed by architects Jun Inokuma and Yuri Narusemade from wood waste from old houses... and they're shaped like houses! (I know, I know)

Assembled City Fragments

A few weeks ago I posted about Catie Newell, an artist using reclaimed materials from old buildings to make art. Now I have also been introducted to artist Dennis Maher who makes dramatic sculptures from "assembled city fragments" in Buffalo. His art speaks about the "forgotten spaces" in the city. Cool, huh?

Recycled Road Sign Art

Artist Boris Bally, a talented metalsmith, has a really cool transit series where he makes art out of old road signs. My favorite pieces are these tables and these coasters. For those of you already thinking about decorating for the holidays, this wreath may be right up your alley!
