Philadelphia Magic Gardens

Have you ever heard of other Philly Magic Gardens? Designed by Isaiah Zagar out of recycled and re-purposed materials, they seems light wonderful havens of imagination in an urban environment. Next time I'm up north, I'm really going to try to check them out!

Assembled City Fragments

A few weeks ago I posted about Catie Newell, an artist using reclaimed materials from old buildings to make art. Now I have also been introducted to artist Dennis Maher who makes dramatic sculptures from "assembled city fragments" in Buffalo. His art speaks about the "forgotten spaces" in the city. Cool, huh?

Salvaged Landscape

This design isn't just inspired by buildings, it's made out of old buildings, too! The artist, Catie Newell, completed this installation in conjuction with non-profit the Imagination Station. She calls her structure a "Salvaged Landscape" because it's taken from old wood off a partially burned building in Detroit slated for demolition. The new space is being used to help promote community engagement in this blighted neighborhood of Detroit. What a fabulous piece of repurposed art!
